What We Do
Diverse Voices is a Queensland based non-profit organisation with a focus on the well being of the diverse voices that make up our community. Our focus is providing a LGBTIQ+ peer to peer telephone, web chat and referral service.
GLWA was originally known as the Homosexual Community Welfare Service (HCWS). ‘Homosexual’ was used for a number of reasons – it was an inclusive word at a time when the distinctions between gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people had not become as clearly defined as they are today.
Without volunteers Diverse Voices could not exist. As an organisation we highly value the skills and contribution of every volunteer.
Diverse Voices is mainly operated by volunteers.
We take around 50 calls a week, and being a not-for-proft, this means we need your help.
