Without volunteers Diverse Voices could not exist.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Diverse Voices is primarily managed, staffed and operated by volunteers. As an organisation we highly value the skills and contribution of every volunteer.

People volunteer with us in a number of different ways, with the majority of our volunteers staffing our telephone counselling line. We also have volunteers who help us at events and with other small projects. Recently Diverse Voices also rolled out a regional volunteer program, so that people from regional and remote areas have a chance to participate in the activities of our organisation.

Volunteer Roles

Volunteer Telephone & Web Chat Peer Supporter

The vast majority of our volunteers at Diverse Voices staff our support line. You do not need to be a professional counsellor to be on line. This is because the strength of our service is that it is peer to peer. Comprehensive training is provided to our peer supporters. The LGBTI Senior Community Visiting Service

Diverse Voices in one of a number of local partners who proudly deliver this program. The Seniors Community Visiting Service matches trained volunteer visitors with LGBTI senior clients who feel alone or isolated from their community due to health, mobility or other issues. The service supports clients to stay connected with others through having regular contact with their visitor for conversation, social connection and/or outings. It operates alongside but not in place of other in-home care and support services that clients might receive or be looking to access.
